Posted on June 10, 2022 by KWBG

FAIRFAX, Va.—Marinza Roosa, a student at Ogden High School, has been selected to represent Boone, RN as National Youth Correspondent at the 2022 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University.

Roosa joins a select group of students from across the country for an intensive study of journalism and media. Roosa was chosen on the basis of her academic achievements and her demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies. National Youth Correspondents engage in hands-on, experiential learning through decision-making simulations that challenge them to solve problems and explore the creative, practical and ethical tensions inherent in journalism and media. The experiential part of the program is complemented by guest speakers who are well-known leaders in the media community. Presenters include prominent journalists, major media CEOs, researchers and recent university graduates who have successfully entered the field. Past speakers include NBC’s Hoda Kotb, C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb, Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Carol Guzy, and National Geographic’s Susan Goldberg.

With distinguished faculty, guest speakers, and direct access to elite DC practitioners, the Washington Journalism and Media Conference offers aspiring journalists and student leaders an unparalleled experience. The week-long program, held at the state-of-the-art campus of George Mason University, will encourage and inspire young leaders across the country who want a unique experience focused on successful careers in this dynamic industry.

The Washington Journalism and Media Conference will be held from July 17 to July 22, 2022.
