BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Chandler Street Kitchens continue their Winter Market success with a weekly Saturday night event.
The Chandler Street Aftermarket is held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday through November at 27 and 37 Chandler St. Visitors will be able to shop and eat at businesses in both buildings, as well as pick up items from a rotary selection. vendors in the parking lot, said Robbie Gianadda of Flat # 12 Mushrooms.
“It will be like a farmer’s market, but it will be a bit more prepared meals, and we will also have beer vendors,” Gianadda said.
The Winter Farmers’ Market grew out of a need for outdoor shopping during the pandemic.
“Most of the winter markets were indoors, and not everyone was comfortable packing in enclosed spaces,” said Gianadda. “It was very surprising – people loved to come shopping outdoors even on the coldest weekends.”
Saturday was the first after-market event.
Marcus Burley, co-owner and co-founder of TooRaw Organics, sold his line of organic cold-pressed juices on site.
“We will be here for the rest of the summer,” said Burley. “I think it’s a little sweeter – it’s a later scene more dinner-oriented.”
“You have the option of buying stuff like mushrooms, seafood, veggie burgers – it’s the same feel of a farmer’s market, but almost fresher I would say,” said Grace Brown, organizer. culinary experience for Pacific Cloud Seafood.
Pacific Cloud Seafood, a collective of small anglers and fish hooks, is one of the tenants of the Chandler Street kitchens.
Brown said they will be launching a hot food program at after-market events in the coming weeks.
“I think it’s so great to be in the Chandler Street community – I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on a Saturday night,” she added.
