Caltrans, Fortuna Hosts “Clean California Mattress Disposal Event” June 11

Caltrans and the City of Fortuna will host a free Mattress Dump Day event. This Dump Day event is part of Governor Newsom’s $1.1 billion Clean California initiative, which makes this event possible, as well as other educational and waste prevention events taking place throughout the state. Residents are encouraged to properly dispose of unwanted mattresses.

Who: Residents of the Fortuna region

What: Free mattress emptying day

When: Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or while seats last.

Where: Fortuna High School 379 12e Street, at the large parking lot.

This Free Dump Day collection is limited to mattresses. No building materials, commercial waste, hazardous waste, treated wood waste or asbestos of any type will be accepted.

This is part of a series of Dump Days planned for Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino counties. Future events include the communities of Crescent City and Blue Lake. Don’t forget to secure your cargo.

Dump Day events are held to advance the Department’s goal of keeping California’s highways and waterways waste-free as part of the Clean California initiative.
